Recycling TITANIUM
-
TITANIUM UDL products are a 100% plastic based material, and therefore, are fully recyclable* unlike traditional roofing felt underlayments, which are manufactured from asphalt and paper and are dumped into landfills.
-
TITANIUM UDL's contain a minimum of 20% pre-consumer recycled content, which reduces waste in landfills and conserves energy.
(Download a copy of our SCS Certification for your records)
-
One truck load of TITANIUM UDL replaces six truck loads of black felt! This means less asphalt in the environment, a tremendous saving of fuel and reduced pollution.
-
TITANIUM UDL products are rated for 25-50 years, which means longer roof life and durability, thus reducing the need to replace decaying felt over time.
-
TITANIUM UDL products produce no toxic emissions during manufacture, unlike felt saturation plants, which generate highly toxic fumes.
-
TITANIUM UDL products are 100% inert to moisture absorption, unlike asphalt felt paper, therefore the chance for water breach and mold feeding of the product is eliminated.
*Recycling programs for this material may not exist in your area so check with your local recycling or waste management company. All Titanium UDL products are category 5 plastics
FAQ on TITANIUM UDL products and LEED®
InterWrap is committed to making products that maximize contribution to green building designations, in particular the Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) program of the US Green Building Council (USGBC).
How can Titanium UDL products contribute to LEED credits for my project?
- MR Credit 2: Construction Waste Management – All Titanium UDL products are made from plastic (recycling logo 5) and are 100% recyclable, so any scrap leftover can be recycled
- MR Credit 4: Recycled Content – All Titanium UDL products contain a minimum of 20% preconsumer recycled content, backed up by a 3rd party verification by Scientific Certification Systems. Click on the SCS logo above to see our certificate.
Do Titanium UDL products contribute to MR Credit 5: Regional Materials?
Unfortunately they do not.
Does the recycled content in TITANIUM UDL products affect the strength and durability of the product?
All UDL products come with a limited warranty because InterWrap stands behind the quality of our product. We test our products constantly to ensure you get the strength and durability you need from an underlayment.
Do PSU products contribute to LEED points?
Because of the rubberized asphalt PSU is not recyclable or eligible for LEED points.
How do I learn more about the LEED system?
