TITANIUM™ UDL-30 is a highly engineered, mechanically attached, coated woven synthetic roofing underlayment for sloped roofs.  TITANIUM™ UDL-30 represents the future in felt replacement technology, and used in conjunction with TITANIUM™ PSU-30 self adhered underlayment, offers the sloped roofing industry a truly revolutionary system of safety, security and simplicity... 2 products (UDL-30 & PSU-30) are ALL your roof needs.

In TITANIUM™ UDL-30, advanced polymers combine to deliver a uniquely gray synthetic roofing underlayment that can be used under all types of primary roofing materials to replace felt. Gray technology provides for a cooler roof and the best UV exposure properties (up to 6 months) in the marketplace. Unlike smooth surfaced underlayments, TITANIUM™ UDL-30 possesses a revolutionary patented slip resistant SURE-FOOT™ nodular walking surface technology that allows for steep slope walkability, even in wet conditions.

TITANIUM™ UDL-30 is 6 times lighter and 20 times stronger than #30 felt!  Gone are the days of blow-offs and call backs. A 10 square roll weighs less than 50 lbs! This super low weight combined with 48” width and 256 ft. run length means big savings in time and labor (over 50% faster than felt!).  Fewer laps, cuts, roll handling; do more jobs in less time, inventory fewer rolls and gain an edge in productivity and profits.

TITANIUM™ UDL-30 is 100% synthetic, therefore totally unaffected by water, which means it is 100% mold free, lays flat, will not wrinkle and you can leave your roof uncovered without the need for tarps or immediate dry in.  Unlike felts, TITANIUM™ UDL-30 does not dry out, crack, or leech oils in the heat, nor does it become stiff, difficult to roll, and crack in the cold.

The unique features of TITANIUM™ UDL-30 combined with super high tear strength and up to 6 months UV rating means your job will stay on track through all kinds of wind and weather. Increase your job schedule flexibility and efficiency, and sleep tight on your dried in projects.  Less material damage and waste during installation and fewer post-install repairs result in significant savings in time and money. TITANIUM™ UDL-30 will continue to protect your high cost, long life rated primary roofing long after felt has turned to dust!  TITANIUM™ UDL-30 comes with a 30 year limited warranty.

Felt vs. TITANIUM

A roofing underlayment must perform in extremes of temperature in terms of storage, handling, installation, dry-in exposure, and ultimately, over time in the final application roofing system.TITANIUM™UDL is engineered to perform over a wider operating temperature window as compared to asphalt felt.

Felt vs. TITANIUM - HIGH TEMPERATURE PERFORMANCE

Asphalt felts, under high temperature conditions, loose volatiles (oils). Felts are therefore, fundamentally prone to dry and crack, as well as leach out oils, which reduces their lifespan and results in an oily, slippery surface. This slippery surface can be dangerous to walk on, especially under steep slope pitches. Image C illustrates a typical #30 felt exposed to 40 °C (104 °F) over a wooden deck (a temperature commonly observed with exposed felt in summer months because of the highly UV absorbing nature of black asphalt, as well as working temperatures commonly observed under metal roofing systems). One can clearly see the immediate signs of oils leaching from the felt onto the wooden deck! This oil leaching causes felts to become very slippery (sticks to underneath of shoes and forms sliding interface between shoe and felt surface), and also dries out felts over time.TITANIUM™UDL is 100% asphalt free and void of any component leaching or loss of volatiles over time.

Felt vs. TITANIUM - LOW TEMPERATURE PERFORMANCE

Under the other extreme of temperature, namely cold weather, asphalt felt also suffers serious functional performance problems. In typical winter temperature conditions (-10 °C to 5 °C, or 14 °F to 40 °F), felts have a tendency to become very rigid, stiff and brittle, and very difficult to roll out. Because asphalt felts contain paper, they also are prone to absorb water, become heavier, and freeze in cold weather, making the stiffness and unrolling problems even worse. This causes cracking, damage, significant extra effort in roof installation and costly waste that is not recyclable.

Whereas TITANIUM™UDL has a 100% synthetic, super high strength polymeric woven construction that does not dry out or crack in hot weather, remains flat and flexible in extreme cold weather! TITANIUM™UDL is manufactured from special polymer resins that won't crack until -230 °F...now that's cold!

Image D illustrates both #30 asphalt felt and a TITANIUM™ sample that was placed in a freezer at 0 °C (32 °F) for 24 hours (not unlike rolls sitting in a lumber yard or jobsite waiting to be installed). Both samples were then immediately withdrawn from the freezer and folded over a bend. The results speak for themselves...the asphalt felt immediately cracked, whereas TITANIUM™UDL easily conformed to the bend!

6 TIMES LIGHTER

Tip the scales in your favour! A 10 square roll of TITANIUM™ UDL-30 weighs only 42 lbs! not only that, 5 rolls of TITANIUM™UDL-30 is equal to 23 rolls of #30 felt! That means less time installing, easier to transport onto roof which means less worker fatigue and inncreased productivity!
